Newton charged with breaching AVO!

Matthew Newton has been arrested for breaching an Apprehended Violence Order (AVO) taken out by his ex-girlfriend Rachael Taylor.

Newton was arrested in Kings Cross on Tuesday afternoon.  The 34 year old is alleged to have called Taylor over the weekend, which would breach a court order stipulating he must have no contact with her.

Police said a man was charged with breaching about 5pm and using a carriage service to menace or harrass.

Everyone remembers when he allegedly bashed Taylor in a Rome hotel last year… not to mention whatever he did to Brooke Satchwell back in the day :(

Newton’s been granted bail and will front court March 2.
