With new mum Miranda Kerr M.I.A it was a battle of the new bombshells at the David Jones Winter Launch in Sydney on Tuesday night.
Vogue cover girl Samantha Harris, 20, Nicole Trunfio, 24, and Alexandra Agoston, 23, made their hip-swinging way down the catwalk wearing beautiful silk Lisa Ho pieces, encircled by an audience of VIPs and celebrities including Danni Minogue, Lara Bingle and David Jones ambassador Megan Gale.
But one of David Jones' new darlings admitted she was nervous before the show kicked off due to a special somebody in the crowd.
"I was nervous because my boyfriend is watching the show, it's the first show he's seen," Harris said after the 30 minute show at the David Jones Elizabeth street store.
"I actually saw him as I came out he was on the first corner, I was so embarrassed. I met him on the gold coast, he's a builder and we've been together for three years next monday."
I think every man wanted a piece of this gorgeous girl but Harris on
"They can look but they can't touch," she laughed.
The biggest trend for the cooler months is camel although Zimmerman show cased a collection of striped fabrics and a stunning black ostrich feather top.
Favourite Aussie designers Alex Perry, Collette Dinnigan, and One Teaspoon illustrated that their flirtation with lace for the next season has taken off with a bang.
"It's all about black lace, nude underlay, charcoal and very dark moody brocade," declared Sydney designer Alex Perry.
Love it or hate it, leather is making a roaring comeback again this winter. A sea of sleek and sophisticated black leather dresses, pants and ankle boots made appearances on the catwalk by big brand players White Suede, Zanerobe and Sabatini.
Military has remained a favourite for designers however, this season military means chic. Camilla and Mark chose khaki, grey and navy in order to reflect this special particularity of the army style. Add a feminine belt, lace sleeves and a faux fur jacket to that equation and we have chic city style.
The show’s striking soundtrack of 70's disco beats never faltered as the fashion flowed out.
Harris, who’s been hailed as Australia’s first indigenous supermodel, wore a custom made Collette Dinnigan red lace dress to close the event followed by a stream of about 40 charging models donned in bright orange, blush and red pieces.
The model says the usual black shades are not the dominant trend this season.
Noticeably missing from the catwalk was DJ’s veteran label Sass and Bide which the department store yesterday announced is ending its 10-year partnership with the quirky Australian fashion label.
Can you say SELL OUT? Harris says she won't be wearing Sass and Bide at all any more!!!
Dannii Minogue's Project D showed off a black lace sleeveless dress, lace cap, satin belts and a beautiful black and gold embellished dress with sheer back.
Megan Gale stayed for about an hour and didn't give any interviews because she had to run to the airport to catch a plane.. probs to Melbourne... Carlton player anyone???
The finale show stopper; Samantha Harris, Alexandra Agoston and Nicole Trunfio.
